Congressman Virgil Goode (R-VA) presented this video statement in opposition to the North American Union at the international news conference of the 'Coalition to Block the North American Union', held in Ottawa, Canada on August 20, 2007 during the 'Security and Prosperity Partnership' (SPP) summit which was held in Montebello, Canada. At the summit, leaders of the United States, Canada and Mexico met in secret with heads of 30 corporations to "harmonize" regulations without Congressional approval and to pave the way for the merger of the three nations in a North American Union (NAU). The news conference was covered by Fox, CTV, the Wall Street Journal and many other U.S. and Canadian media. Rep. Goode is the sponsor of H.C.R. 40, the resolution to stop the NAU and the related NAFTA Superhighway.
